In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Durham University is offering three tuition fee scholarships worth £15,000 each to students in France, Ghana and Mexico applying for eligible postgraduate taught courses for 2026.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
You can apply for a 2026 Durham University - GREAT Scholarship if you:
- are a resident of France, Ghana or Mexico and, hold either a French, Ghanaian or Mexican passport, and
- classed as an overseas student for fee purposes, self-financing, and
- hold the equivalent of a first-class honours degree, and
- hold an unconditional offer to start an eligible full-time Taught Masters degree in September 2026 (full eligible course list in scholarship link below)
Value of Scholarship:
The Durham GREAT Scholarship for 2026 is valued as follows;
- 1x £15,000 scholarship towards tuition fee for students from France
- 1x £15,000 scholarship towards tuition fee for students from Ghana
- 1x £15,000 scholarship towards tuition fee for students from Mexico
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply:
1) Submit an academic application and provide all supporting documents (English language, academic transcripts etc. – correctly translated) to Durham University for one of the eligible programmes by midnight (GMT) 6th March 2026 via Durham's Postgraduate Applicant Portal
- When completing your online academic application form for your chosen programme of study: In the section on Funding please answer 'Yes' to the question 'Have your either applied or are going to apply for a scholarship?’ Then select ‘GREAT scholarship’ from the drop-down menu.
- The deadline to receive an unconditional offer OR meet all your offer conditions is 17th April 2026.
2) During the week commencing on 27th April 2026, eligible candidates for the GREAT Scholarship who have received an unconditional offer of admission to study at Durham for 2026 will be invited via email to complete a GREAT Scholarship application form. All application forms must be submitted by the deadline above.
- Please note: If you have not received an email invitation from Durham by this date, please assume you are not eligible for the scholarship.
3) The outcome of the GREAT Scholarship will be announced in June 2026, only successful candidates will be notified via email. Please assume your application is unsuccessful if you have not received the award email from Durham by this date.
