Scholarship Summary:
Non-Mississippi domestic residents are automatically awarded merit scholarships upon MSU admission based on 9th-11th grade high school GPA and test scores. Non-resident students can receive a Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarship and a Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship. Eligible students may also receive a Colvard Future Leader Scholarship.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for scholarship consideration,
i. Applicants must be US citizens who are Mississippi non-residents.
ii. For the Academic Excellence Scholarship, applicants must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0+ and 22-23 ACT (or 1100-1150 SAT).
iii. For the Colvard Future Leader Scholarship, applicants must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.5+ and 24 ACT (or 1160-1190 SAT).
iv. For the Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship, applicants must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0-3.49 and 22-26 ACT (or 1100-1250 SAT).
Value of Scholarship:
The MSU-Starkville Non-Resident Freshman Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Freshman Mississippi Non-Resident Academic Excellence Scholarship:
A. $1,500/year {Required: 3.0+ GPA and 22-23 ACT (or 1100-1150 SAT)}
B. $2,000/year {Required: 3.0+ GPA and 24-26 ACT (or 1160-1250 SAT)}
C. $3,000/year {Required: 3.0+ GPA and 27-29 ACT (or 1260-1350 SAT)}
D. $5,000/year {Required: 3.0+ GPA and 30-36 ACT (or 1360-1600 SAT)}
Starting at 35 ACT with a 3.0-3.49 GPA, an additional scholarship for Study Abroad is available for $3,000. Students with a 35 ACT or higher with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible to receive a $4,000 scholarship for Study Abroad. Also starting at 34 ACT (or 1490 SAT), an additional scholarship to cover one year of double-occupancy housing is available.
ii. Freshman Mississippi Non-Resident Colvard Future Leader Scholarship:
A. $1,000/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 24 ACT (or 1160-1190 SAT)}
B. $1,500/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 25-26 ACT (or 1200-1250 SAT)}
C. $2,000/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 27-32 ACT (or 1260-1440 SAT)}
D. $3,500/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 33-36 ACT (or 1450-1600 SAT)}
iii. Freshman Mississippi Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship:
A. $7,000/year {Required: 3.0-3.49 GPA and 22-26 ACT (or 1100-1250 SAT)}
B. $8,500/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 25 ACT (or 1200-1220 SAT)}
C. $11,000/year {Required: 3.0-3.49 GPA and 27-29 ACT (or 1260-1350 SAT)} OR {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 26 ACT (or 1230-1250 SAT)}
D. $12,000/year {Required: 3.0-3.49 GPA and 30-32 ACT (or 1360-1440 SAT)}
E. $13,000/year {Required: 3.0-3.49 GPA and 33-36 ACT (or 1450-1600 SAT)}
F. $16,000/year {Required: 3.5+ GPA and 33-36 ACT (or 1450-1600 SAT)}
Non-resident students can receive a Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarship and a Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship. Eligible students may also receive a Colvard Future Leader Scholarship.
