Scholarship Summary:
All international undergraduate students that apply to the University of Southern Maine will automatically be considered for Academic Merit-Based Scholarships. If the student meets the academic criteria they will be awarded a merit-based scholarship at the time of admission.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must;
i. Obtain a minimum cumulative 2.75 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Value of Scholarship:
The USM International Freshman Academic Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. USM Scholar Award: $7,000/year {2.75 - 2.99 GPA on a 4.0 scale}
ii. Dirigo Scholar Award: $11,000/year {3.0 - 3.49 GPA on a 4.0 scale}
iii. President’s Scholar Award: $11,000/year {3.5+ GPA on a 4.0 scale}
iv. President’s Recognition Award: One-time $2,000 award {3.5+ GPA on a 4.0 scale}
For Canadian students
i. USM Scholar Award: $1,000/year {2.75 - 2.99 GPA on a 4.0 scale}
ii. Dirigo Scholar Award: $2,000/year {3.0 - 3.49 GPA on a 4.0 scale}
iii. President’s Scholar Award: $4,000/year {3.5+ GPA on a 4.0 scale}
Scholarships will be renewable (4 years for first year students and 3 years for transfer students) provided the recipient maintains the required minimum GPA.
Scholarship Application Guide:
A separate application is not required to qualify. Simply complete your admissions application and you will automatically be reviewed for eligibility when the Admissions Committee makes a decision on your application.
