Scholarship Summary:
The Macquarie University Higher Study Scholarship assists Australian students from disadvantaged backgrounds studying a postgraduate degree, including demonstrated financial hardship with the costs associated with higher education.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The successful applicant for this scholarship must be:
• An Australian citizen or Permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen
• Studying or intending to study full-time or part time at the Honours or postgraduate coursework level in a Commonwealth Supported place or tuition fee place. (Note that students undertaking Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma study are not eligible for this scholarship)
• Able to demonstrate financial hardship; applicants need to be in receipt of Youth Allowance or any other means tested Commonwealth support payment.
In addition to academic excellence and financial hardship, consideration is given to factors including an Indigenous background, capacity to triumph over hardship, carer responsibilities, rural or remote background, non English-speaking background, long term disability or medical condition, or ongoing effects of trauma and abuse.
Value of Scholarship:
This scholarship is valued at AUD $11,312 for the duration of the postgraduate course.
