'24 University College London Bartlett Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship (England Based)

Scholarship Summary: 
The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship is open to applicants who are nationals of a Bartlett approved list of Sub-Saharan African countries pursuing a Bartlett master’s programme. UCL will consider your educational, personal and financial circumstances. You will need to demonstrate these in your application. Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.

Up to three Bartlett Promise scholarships, plus one Prescot Scholarship (for a student on the Infrastructure Investment and Finance MSc, preferably female), and two DPU70 Scholarships (for master's degrees at The Bartlett Development Planning Unit) are available to students starting Bartlett Master’s programmes in September 2024.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
Candidates must:
be a national of one of The Bartlett’s approved list of Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries and resident in an eligible SSA country (find full list in the scholarship link below)
must not hold a British or dual British citizenship
have an offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s programme for study in 2024/25 which is either unconditional or conditional only on English language
be in financial need as assessed by UCL 

In addition to these, due consideration will be given to candidates who meet any of these criteria:
be a forced migrant
be the first generation in the family to attend university at undergraduate level
be the first generation in family to attend university at postgraduate level 

Value of Scholarship: 
Awards will cover full overseas tuition fees, an allowance to cover living and study expenses (£16,008) for the normal duration of the programme at UCL, a flight to/from the UK, UK Study visa costs, English language assessment costs, health test costs, master’s programme application fee costs and the NHS health supplement charge in the UK. 

All Promise scholars will also receive on-going academic and career support during their study.

To apply;
i. You must first secure a place on a Bartlett Master’s programme. Once you have an offer of a place, you can apply to The Bartlett Promise for a scholarship. Applications to Bartlett master’s programmes open on 16 October 2023.
ii. Complete the application form which opens on 15 February 2024 and close on 3 April 2024 at 23.45 BST
iii. The selection panel will assess your application based on information provided on your scholarship application form and the information you provide in your one-to-one dialogue with the Windsor Fellowship. Assessment of applications will be made in relation to the eligibility criteria.
