Scholarship Summary:
Set up in memory of Professor Mike Walker OBE, this scholarship is available for a full or part-time postgraduate student, with Home or International fee status, studying for one of the courses listed below, within the School of Engineering, Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible;
i. You must have achieved, or be on target to achieve, a minimum of a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent, and not have the financial means to undertake further study without this scholarship. You will need to clearly demonstrate this in the application.
ii. You must have an offer to study for one of the following Royal Holloway Masters courses:
Information Security
Computer Science
Value of Scholarship:
The Holloway Professor Mike Walker Scholarship is awarded as a tuition fee reduction up to the value of £12,000 (if the tuition fee is less than £12,000, the scholarship will only cover the value of the tuition fee). One scholarship is available for the 2024/25 academic year.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. You must apply via the online system Royal Holloway Direct, where you will be able to complete your statement and upload any required documents including your grades transcript.
ii. You must provide a supporting statement of no more than 400 words, which should include:
• Academic achievements and other activities you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you;
• Why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for;
• Your future aspirations and how the scholarship will help you achieve these and contribute to society;
• From a financial standpoint, what impact this scholarship would have on your education;
• Any special personal or family circumstances affecting your requirement for financial assistance.
Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.
iii. As well as your statement, you will need to upload your most recent grades transcript from your undergraduate degree. Any applications that are submitted without an uploaded transcript will be rejected.
