Scholarship Summary:
Academically talented domestic students entering Eastern Illinois University will automatically be offered the Merit Scholarships at the time of application to the University. This scholarship is automatically renewable for a total of 4 years (8 semesters). Eligible students are required to maintain full-time consecutive undergraduate enrollment in fall and spring semesters and maintain specific GPA requirement.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have;
i. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (undergraduate).
Value of Scholarship:
The EIU Freshman Merit Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Distinguished Merit Scholarship - $4,000 annually (GPA: 3.85 – 4.0)
ii. High Achieving Merit Scholarship - $3,000 annually (GPA: 3.60 – 3.84)
iii. Academic Merit Scholarship - $2,000 annually (GPA: 3.0 – 3.59)
If you are an Illinois resident and you have a minimum of a 3.3/4.0 GPA, you will receive the additional Freshman Textbook Rental Grant valued at $300 per year over 4 years.
The above scholarships are automatically renewable for a total of 4 years (8 semesters Fall and Spring).
Scholarship Application Guide:
No separate application is required. When you are admitted to EIU, you will automatically be offered the highest Merit Scholarship you qualify for.
NOTE: Recipients must be admitted by June 1; transcripts can be updated through June 30 to qualify for the scholarship or qualify for a higher amount.
