Scholarship Summary: 
UT Dallas offers Academic Excellence Scholarships (AES) each year to incoming first-time-in-college freshman students (domestic and international) admitted for the fall term immediately following high school graduation. Students are automatically considered for an AES award on the basis of their completed application to the university and no other materials are required. Award criteria include standardized test scores and high school academic success evidenced by grades and class rank (if available).

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for AES review, an applicant must:
i. Be a first-time freshman applicant admitted to UT Dallas for the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

Applicants are reviewed individually and holistically for AES. Consideration is given to the following factors:
a. Overall grades in academic coursework and trends in achievement
b. Strength of high school curriculum, including level of rigor (AP, IB, dual credit)
High school rank and GPA
c. SAT I or ACT test scores, if available
d. Information provided in the résumé, optional essay and/or optional letters of recommendation
e. Applicants may submit one essay on any topic from Apply Texas or the Common Application
f. Letters of recommendation are suggested, but not required, and limited to a maximum of three
No specific achievement in any category of the AES award factors guarantees a scholarship or specific award level.

Value of Scholarship: 
The Academic Excellence award varies in its amount. Out-of-state and international students receiving any level of AES award qualify for in-state tuition and fee charges.
