At SDCC, over 95% of incoming freshmen students (domestic and international) are awarded some financial aid. The Freshman Academic Scholarships are awarded to the brightest students of the incoming freshman class.

The SDCC Merit Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Honor's Scholarship: $11,000 (3.8+ GPA)
ii. President's Scholarship: $10,000 (3.6-3.79 GPA)
iii. Provost Scholarship: $9,000 (3.25-3.59 GPA)
iv. Heritage Scholarship: $7,000 (3.0-3.24 GPA)
v. Hawk Scholarship: $5,000 (2.5-2.99 GPA)
vi. Talon Grant: $1,000 (2.49 GPA)
