Scholarship Summary:
Undergraduate entrance scholarships and awards are available to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have not previously attended TRU other than having completed up to 12 transferable university credits on a part-time basis. All scholarships and awards are applied for, through a single general application and applicants are automatically considered for all possible scholarships and awards.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible, you must;
For TRU Scholarships
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Be a first time TRU student who has never previously attended a college or university (except for up to 12 credits on a part-time basis)
• Be entering a TRU campus program of two years or longer
• Meet the minimum academic requirement of an 80% average based on grades in the best four academic Grade 11 courses including English 11. (Grade 12 fall semester courses may be substituted where appropriate in individual cases)
• Demonstrate a history of activities and/or accomplishments promoting strong to exemplary leadership, service, goal orientation, and the development of grit in overcoming obstacles
For TRU Awards
• Demonstrate a history of activities and/or accomplishments promoting leadership, service, goal orientation, and the development of grit in overcoming obstacles.
• Not possess a post-secondary credential, but may have completed and be transferring prior post-secondary credit.
• Ensure two references are submitted by the application deadline.
• Meet the minimum academic requirement of a 70% average in Grade 11 courses (all courses included). Where prior post-secondary has been completed, a 3.00 GPA (on the 4.33 scale) or equivalent is required.
Value of Scholarship:
The TRU Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships & Awards are namely as follows;
i. Alvin & Lydia Grunert Scholarship: CAD$30,000 over four years {1 award available}
ii. TRU Ambassador’s Entrance Scholarship: Up to CAD$24,000 over four years (6 awards available}
iii. TRU Leadership Entrance Scholarship: CAD$8,000- CAD$15,000 {15 awards available}
iv. TRU President’s Entrance Scholarship: CAD$4,000 - CAD$6,000 over two semesters {10-20 awards available}
v. TRU Relocation Top-Up Scholarship: CAD$500 {15 awards available}
vi. TRU Undergraduate Entrance Awards: CAD$2,000 - CAD$4,000 each (applied to two semesters of tuition & fees) {over 40 awards available}
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Complete an application for admission and supporting materials to TRU, although a final admission decision is not required to apply for the above scholarships.
ii. All scholarships and awards are applied for through a single general application on the myTRU platform and applicants are automatically considered for all possible scholarships and awards.
- Only one application is required to be considered for the above scholarships and awards.
iii. Two references must be submitted separately to entrance@tru.ca by the deadline using the fillable PDF form.
- References may be emailed either directly from the referee or from the applicant. Handwritten reference letters will not be accepted.
