Scholarship Summary:
The Buchanan Fellowship, limited to 20 students per year, is awarded through the prestigious MTSU Honors College, and is the highest academic award given to entering domestic freshman at Middle Tennessee State University. Students must plan to enroll for the first time in the summer or fall semester to be eligible for the Buchanan Fellowship.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
1. have a high school GPA greater than or equal to 3.5;
2. have a composite ACT greater than or equal to 30 (SAT greater than or equal to 1360).

- Full tuition waiver (up to 16 hours per semester) guaranteed for four years
- Special seminars
- Priority registration
- $500 book allowance for Fall and Spring semesters
- Access to additional scholarships for study abroad (up to $5,000)
To compete for a Buchanan Fellowship, an applicant must
i. Apply to MTSU: Apply for undergraduate admission to Middle Tennessee.
ii. Create Your PipelineMT Account: Once you have applied to MTSU, you will receive your M-number by mail, which you can use to create your PipelineMT account. You will need your PipelineMT User Name and Password to access the Buchanan Application Form.
iii. Start Your Buchanan Application: Complete and return the Buchanan application form to the Honors College by December 1 of the year prior to fall enrollment.
iv. Send High School Transcripts: In addition to sending your high school transcripts to the Admissions office, you must send one to the Honors College.
Choose ONE of these options to submit transcripts to the Honors College:
a) Preferred Method: Upload them directly into your Buchanan application. Look for the link called “High School Transcript.”
b) Your high school counselor can upload them to the secure portal.
c) Mail them to the Honors College at:
