Scholarship Summary:
Chicago Public School or charter school students (US citizens and residents only) are eligible to receive the Charles Scholarship at Davidson—an award honoring those with a record of academic achievement, personal accomplishment, and leadership ability. Preference will be given to traditionally under-represented students, particularly Latinx and Hispanic students.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Have attended a Chicago Public School or charter school
ii. Demonstrate a record of academic achievement, personal accomplishment, and leadership ability.
Please note that past recipients were in the top 5% of the applicant pool.
Value of Scholarship:
The Charles Scholarship provides funding that offers:
• Comprehensive cost of tuition, fees, room and board
• Book and personal expense allowance
• Annual travel allowance
The scholarship is renewable provided you maintain the specified grade point average and meet requirements toward earning a degree.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. December 15 - Nominations due: Guidance counselors, heads of schools or principals, or college preparatory program representatives may nominate up to three students from their school or program. The Davidson admission and financial aid staff may also nominate you based on the strength of your application for admission.
ii. January 10 - Application for admission and FAFSA due
iii. March - Charles Scholars will be named in March
