Essay Instructions
Type a 750-1000 word essay on the following topic:

A woman of great faith, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin understood the importance of education. Upon arriving at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in 1840, she founded Saint Mary’s Academy, the predecessor to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She and the Sisters of Providence went on to work with several Catholic Parishes in the area to establish parish schools across Indiana and eastern Illinois. Eventually the mission spread across the United States and to China, Taiwan and South America.
Describe the opportunities that education has opened in your life and why continuing your education at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is important to you. How would an education from a Catholic, liberal arts college prepare you for your future? How would Saint Mother Theodore’s legacy shape your aspirations? How do you think being a Guerin scholar will advance your goals?
