Scholarship Summary:
The University of Notre Dame is awarding the Hesburgh-Yusko Scholarship (HYSP), a highly selective scholarship and leadership development program, to domestic and international freshmen students who are passionate about making a difference in the world.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
There is no single definition of a Hesburgh-Yusko scholar but all eligible candidates for this program are evaluated according to four criteria;
a. Demonstrated Leadership ability
b. Distinguished academic ability
c. Sincere commitment to service
d. Exemplary moral character
Value of Scholarship:
All Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars receive $25,000 per year for four years.
In addition,
a. All Hesburgh-Yusko scholars are required to participate in four Summer Enrichment Experiences – Wilderness Leadership, Social Justice, Global Inquiry, and Professional Venture
b. After participation in a one-week Wilderness Leadership Outward Bound course alongside other merit scholars before freshman year, each scholar receives up to $5,000 per summer to design an eight-week Summer Enrichment Experience for Social Justice (direct service), Global Inquiry (research), and Professional Venture (internship) that helps them meet their academic and professional goals and become transformational leaders.
Scholarship Application Guide:
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions identifies outstanding candidates for HYSP. To be eligible for consideration, a student must apply for admission to the University of Notre Dame in either Restrictive Early Action with a complete application by November 1, or in Regular Decision with a complete application by January 1.
