Scholarship Summary:
The Garrett-Sherwood Scholarships are awarded by Whitman to exceptional applicants (US citizens and residents only) who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to their schools and communities.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
There are no set criteria for consideration but this prestigious Whitman scholarship is typically offered to only the top 1% of incoming applicants.
Value of Scholarship:
Recipients of the Garrett-Sherwood Scholarships receive the following;
i. A generous scholarship
ii. Regular meetings on campus throughout the school year for socials, networking receptions, roundtable discussions, national grant and fellowship information sessions, and other events.
iii. The opportunity to travel to New York City during the spring break of junior year for a career exploration and networking trip. There, Garrett-Sherwood Scholars have a chance to meet local alumni who are leaders in finance, business, media, culture and government and can assist the scholars in making contacts in their potential career fields.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. Complete the application for admission into Whitman.
ii. Selected Garret-Sherwood Scholars will then be invited to campus to visit at Whitman's expense during the weekend of Admitted Students Day, or any weekend of their choice.
