The Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine Scholarship (B/MD) aims to increase opportunities for Indiana residents only, especially those in the southwestern and southern portions of the state, to obtain education and training at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible to compete for the Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine Scholarship, you must;i. Be a current High School Senior and Indiana resident at the time of application
ii. Achieve a cumulative High School GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
ii. Obtain a composite SAT score of a 1280 (Evidence-Based Reading/Writing + Math) on a single sitting or an ACT composite score of 27
Value of Scholarship:
The Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine Scholarship covers the full tuition cost for the four years of undergraduate study as well as provisional acceptance into the Indiana University School of Medicine. Six students will be selected each year.Scholarship Application Guide:
i. Submit an application for admission to the University of Southern Indiana and complete the application for .- You will not be considered for the scholarship without having applied to USI.
Selection Process
Admission to the joint B/MD program is a dual process. Students entering the program will be independently accepted into the undergraduate program at the University of Southern Indiana and the medical degree program at Indiana University School of Medicine. The following procedure will be followed:
- Interview invitations will be sent out in late November 2026
- The B/MD advisory committee will arrange for qualified candidates to have an interview with members of that committee, which will be scheduled in early December 2026.
- Applications from selected qualified students will then be forwarded to the Admissions Committee of Indiana University School of Medicine.
- After successful completion of pre-medical coursework at USI, final selection and admission to the School of Medicine will be the responsibility of the Admissions Committee of Indiana University School of Medicine
- Successful recipients will be notified in late December 2026.
The B/MD Online application will contain the following:
- Personal Information and Academic Information (including AP, IB and Dual Credit courses)
- Extracurricular Activities and honors
- An essay expressing your interest in medicine
- An essay expressing your interest in USI
- Three letters of recommendation (High school Counselor, High School Science Teacher and a Personal Reference from an unrelated individual (minister, employer etc.) who will complete an online evaluation form. The additional comments box is where the reference should paste his or her letter of recommendation. Please DO NOT send any paper copies of the letter of recommendation. These will not be accepted.
Please note: Neither acceptance into the University of Southern Indiana nor a recommendation to forward the student’s application to the Admissions Committee of Indiana University School of Medicine guarantees acceptance by the School of Medicine.
