Scholarship Summary: 
The University’s schools, departments, and programs of University of Texas at Dallas recruit excellent doctoral students from across the nation and around the world. Each year, some of the most talented of these are named Eugene McDermott Graduate Fellows. The Eugene McDermott Graduate Fellows Program (EMGFP) at University of Texas at Dallas  is a full-ride doctoral merit fellowship program open to incoming domestic and international students in most majors.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for a Graduate Fellows, applicants must;
i.  Apply and be admitted for a doctoral program at UTD.

Essential to the appointment of Fellows is synergy between the prospective doctoral student and the student’s prospective dissertation supervisor. A priority of the Program is that Fellows commence active research work concurrently with the first year of graduate coursework. This is best accomplished by individuals who have determined from the beginning, their research field and the faculty leader with whom to do their dissertation.

Value of Scholarship: 
Eugene McDermott Graduate Fellows receive a four-year Fellowship award package that includes, annually:
•  12-month stipend of $37,000
•  health insurance
•  tuition & fees
•  discretionary research budget of $10,000
•  professional development and other enrichment opportunities

Scholarship Application Guide: 
1.  Applicants to the University’s research-intensive doctoral programs are automatically considered for the Fellowship – there is no separate application.
2.  After admission decisions are made, academic units nominate highly-qualified students to the Fellowship committee for consideration.
3.  Nominated students’ applications for doctoral study are reviewed comprehensively in the contexts of individual merit and of synergy with the interests of UTD’s leading researchers. Individuals with records that demonstrate mastery of the intellectual foundations of their field of study, intensive independent accomplishments in research, and the personal dynamism to emerge as leaders of innovative research programs are most likely to receive an invitation to interview online.
4.  Interested students should investigate UT Dallas’ leading research areas and faculty, and cultivate relevant relationships well in advance of applying to the University.
