UMD is committed to offering a competitive financial aid package to domestic freshmen that is based on a family’s ability to pay for college (demonstrated need), while rewarding academic excellence, to ensure students are able to receive a valuable education and earn the Michigan degree at an affordable cost.

Step 1: Apply to the University of Michigan-Dearborn
i. Students should to be considered for institutional aid.
ii. First year scholarship offers are awarded automatically based on your cumulative high school GPA at the time of application.
Step 2: Complete the FAFSA
i. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for financial aid.

- All admitted students will be considered for need-based grants upon submission of a completed FAFSA.
- Initial Financial Aid offers are mailed to admitted first year undergraduates, mid-February
