Scholarship Summary:
HWS offers generous scholarships and grants to incoming freshmen students (domestic and international) which recognize outstanding academic and personal achievement gained through hard-work and commitment. Annual scholarship and grant amounts are divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Qualification for merit-based awards is determined through a holistic admissions review process and at the discretion of the Committee on Admissions. Standardized test scores are not required for any scholarship.
Value of Scholarship:
The HWS Freshmen Scholarships range up to $40,500 annually and are namely as follows;
i. Trustee Scholarship:
ii. Elizabeth Blackwell ‘49 Scholarship
iii. Bicentennial Scholarship
iv. Faculty Scholarship
v. Alumni Scholarship
vi. Finger Lakes Scholarship
Recipients must meet satisfactory academic progress, uphold community standards and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Scholarship Application Guide:

ii. Applicants now do not need to complete a separate scholarship application to be considered for a merit scholarship at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
- Indicate interest by selecting "yes" to merit scholarship interest in your Common Application questions.
- Qualification is determined through your admissions review process. Each student can only be awarded one scholarship.
