Scholarship Summary:
The Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College currently awards a number of scholarships to incoming domestic freshmen. Finalists for the scholarships are selected from all students who apply to the SMBHC, with decisions based on exceptional academic ability, leadership, community involvement, and potential. These scholarships are extremely competitive, with fewer than 5% of the entering freshman honors class receiving a scholarship from the Honors College.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must;
i. Entering freshmen selected to the Honors College
ii. Demonstrate exceptional academic potential
Value of Scholarship:
The OleMiss Honors Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. SMBHC Honors Scholarship: $32,000 ($8,000 per year) {For Mississippi residents only}
ii. McDonnell Barksdale Scholarship: $32,000 ($8,000 per year) {For Mississippi residents only}
iii. Doris Raymond Honors Scholarship: $32,000 ($8,000 per year)
iv. Harold Parker Jr. Memorial Scholarships: $32,000 ($8,000 per year)
The above awards are renewable for four years and are stackable with other merit scholarships
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply
i. Prior to applying to the Honors College, students need to apply for admission to the University of Mississippi.
ii. Complete the Special Programs & Scholarship Application for the University of Mississippi, which becomes available after you have applied for admission to the University.
