Barry University partners with the Strive Foundation and Stamps Scholars Program to award multi-year scholarships to help driven and talented student leaders (domestic and international) achieve their education and life goals. Stamps Scholars pursue their educational interests while developing their leadership skills with merit based financial aid including enrichment funds that can be used for study abroad, cultural exchanges, research projects and other educational experiences.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
Prospective Barry Stamps Scholars must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A minimum 3.5 high school GPA or an international equivalent
- Demonstrated and active involvement and leadership
- First year freshman (US citizen, resident, or international student)
Value of Scholarship:
The Barry Stamps Scholars Program provides the following;
a. Annual renewable scholarship for tuition, books, room and board, and transportation
b. Additional $6,000 award for study abroad or other extraordinary learning experience.
c. A faculty member who serves as your academic advisor in the content area of your major
d. Unique cultural experiences
e. Leadership training and service activities
f. Receptions and dinner with the donors and faculty
g. Prominent leadership opportunities, including the Presidential Ambassador Program and being a student representative at University events
h. Access to a national network of Stamps Scholars and special Stamps leadership and fellowship programs.
The award is renewable each year, based on GPA, leadership training, and community service requirements.
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply;
i. You must first apply and be accepted to Barry University. All applications, required essay, and supporting documentation are to be submitted before the deadline,
ii. Applicants must complete the online application form through their once accepted to the University.
A completed application includes the application information, a letter of recommendation, a resume, and a personal video;
- The letter of recommendation can be from a teacher, counselor, coach, mentor, someone from your faith community, a boss, someone who you have volunteered with, etc.
- The short personal video should highlight the student’s interests, leadership experience, why the student would like to be part of the Barry community, and what the student believes he/she/they can contribute to the Barry community. 3 minute maximum. Can be YouTube, Zeemee, Glimpse, or other platform.
iii. In early February, semi-finalists are invited to participate in a virtual interview with the Barry Stamps Review Committee, comprised of Barry faculty and administrators.
iv. Finalists will then be selected and scheduled for an interview with a representative of the Stamps Scholars Program in March. Finalists will be notified of a decision by late March.
