Scholarship Summary: 
The UMBC’s Premier Scholars Program help domestic freshmen students define their future through innovative approaches to study. These competitive programs combine financial awards with special opportunities for advanced research, unique seminars, directed internships, study abroad and more.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
The eligibility criteria for the various Scholars Programs differ and you can find more information on them by visiting the scholarship link below.

Value of Scholarship: 
The UMBC’s Premier Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Centre for Women in Technology Scholars Program: Up to $15,000/year for in-state students and up to $22,000/year for out-of-state students
ii. Cyber Scholars Program: $5,000 - $15,000 per year
iii. Humanities Scholars Program 
iv. Linehan Artist Scholars Program
v. Meyerhoff Scholars Program: $5,000 – $15,000/year for in-state students and $10,000 – $22,000/year for out-of-state students 
vi. Sherman STEM Teacher Scholars Program
vii. Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program: In-state students receive scholarships of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000 per year. Out-of-state students receive scholarships of $10,000, $15,000 or $22,000 per year.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. November 1, 2023: Scholars are strongly encouraged to complete their undergraduate admissions package before November 1, UMBC early action admissions deadline. This includes submission of your Common Application, high school transcript, and standardized test score results.

ii. January 15, 2024: Complete the Scholarship application for a Premier Scholarship by this deadline. Applying to a scholars program will require that you have your UMBC Campus ID. Your Campus ID will be sent approximately five to seven business days after you have submitted your Common Application to UMBC. 
  1. You must first sign in with the same user name and password you use to access your My.UMBC.edu login portal;
  2. Complete the General Application;
  3. Once submitted, if applicable, you will be notified if you are eligible to apply for additional Apply-To Scholarships.
  • To see a list of scholarships that may need additional action on your part to receive consideration,
  • Select “Recommended” under “Opportunities.”
  • Submit any additional essays, recommendation letters, etc required for further consideration.
iii. Late January/Early February 2024: Finalists are invited to interview for the program on Scholar Selection Day.

iv. Late March 2024: Selected students are invited to join a Premier Scholars Program
