Scholarship Summary: 
The Barrett Family Foundation in partnership with the University of Guelph, is awarding the Barrett Family Graduate Scholarship to doctoral students (Canadian and international) entering into the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences in research areas that could include, but are not limited to, improving packaging, increasing processing efficiencies, prolonging shelf life, improving quality and productivity, reducing waste and developing greener technologies.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Be entering a doctoral program in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, with a minimum 80% admission average. 
ii. Demonstrate research interests in Sustainable Food Engineering as it relates to post-harvest food processing and manufacturing. This could include improving packaging, productivity and quality, increasing processing efficiencies, prolonging shelf life, reducing waste or developing greener technologies. 

Value of Scholarship: 
Up to 5 Barrett Family Graduate awards of CAD$20,000 are available (payable over the first 3 semesters).

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. Apply for admission to a doctoral program in the School of Engineering in the upcoming Summer, Fall or Winter semesters. 
ii. Apply to the School of Engineering Awards Committee by mail at soe.gradawards@uoguelph.ca with a covering letter with a research proposal outline (2 pages maximum), 2 letters of reference, and a CV. 
  • Selection will be based on the strongest research potential and outstanding academic achievement.
