Scholarship Summary:
Simon Fraser University offers several bursaries and awards to assist Canadian students for whom the cost of attending university would be a significant impediment.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents
ii. Have a demonstrated financial need
iii. Have grades in the 80% range in courses required for their primary program or the minimum IB diploma score required for admission (excluding predicted bonus points).
Value of Scholarship:
The SFU Undergraduate Entrance Awards & Bursaries are valued as follows;
i. Fairfax Entrance Bursary: CAD$30,000 ($3,000 x 10 installments over 5 years max; 2 awards available}
ii. Gilhooley Family Entrance Bursary in Business: $40,000 ($4,000 x 10 installments; 1 award available; must be admitted to and majoring in an undergraduate degree program in the Beedie School of Business)
iii. Alan and Margaret Eyre Entrance Bursary in Business: CAD$20,000 ($2,500 x 8 installments over four years; 2 awards available; must be admitted to and majoring in an undergraduate degree program in the Beedie School of Business)
iv. H.Y. Louie Entrance Award: CAD$5,000 (1 installment; 15-20 awards available)
v. Lohn Foundation Entrance Award: CAD$5,000 (1 installment; 10-15 awards available)
vi. Y.P. Heung Foundation Entrance Award: CAD$5,000 (1 installment; 15 awards available)
vii. Jack and Sadie Diamond Secondary School Entrance Award: CAD$5,000 (1 installment; 3 awards available)

i. By submitting one complete application and supporting documentation (if required), you will be considered for full list of awards above.
ii. The Entrance Awards require the following supporting documents;
- One (1) Community Reference Letter
- A summary of your achievements and activities demonstrating your involvement: provide clear, concise details about your volunteer work, school or community involvement, extracurricular activities, and artistic or athletic interests (500 words max)
All documentation should be submitted to scholars@sfu.ca with a Subject heading ‘SFU Entrance Award/Bursary Application’ and the Body of the mail should include your full name and SFU student number.
