Scholarship Summary:
The Sandra and Jack Pine Honors College offers several scholarship opportunities to academically talented domestic students. Each of these scholarships are automatically renewable as long as the recipient maintains full-time consecutive enrollment in both fall and spring semesters, maintain good standing with the university, and specific GPA requirements.

Each of these scholarships are automatically renewable as long as the recipient maintains full-time consecutive enrollment in both fall and spring semesters, maintain good standing with the university, and specific GPA requirements.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The requirements necessary for consideration are as follows;
i. A 3.75 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) OR
ii. A 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and an ACT composite of 26+ (or SAT of 1230+)
iii. Demonstrate outstanding qualities, including but not limited to: true uniqueness, intellectual rigor, a passion for problem-solving, brash creativity, visionary leadership, an open-minded attitude, and curiosity, grit, and determination in the face of obstacle
Value of Scholarship:
The Pine Honors College offers three different competitive scholarships awarded over four years:
i. Full-ride Pemberton Presidential Scholarship (academic year 2025-2026 amount: $111,680 over four years) {up to 5 awards available}
ii. Full-tuition Presidential Scholarship (academic year 2025-2026 amount: $59,680 over four years) {up to 15 awards available}
iii. Honors Award for Incoming Freshmen is a $3.500 scholarship renewable for four years. This scholarship will be combined with other EIU academic merit scholarships (but not the Presidential Scholarship above) {Several awards available}
Scholarship Application Guide:
To apply,
i. You must be admitted to EIU before you can submit any scholarship applications. a letter of recommendation is NOT required.
ii. Apply for the 2026 Presidential scholarship at AcademicWorks: ; only fully completed applications are considered. Applicants for the Pemberton Presidential and the Presidential Scholarship are also considered as applicants for the Honors Award. You do not need to complete an additional application for the Honors Award.
iii. Apply for the 2026 Honors scholarship at AcademicWorks: eiu.academicworks.com; only fully completed applications are considered.
- Please note: This application will become available the day after the Presidential Scholarship application closes. If you applied for the Presidential Scholarship, you will automatically be considered for the Honors Incoming Freshman Award and do not need to complete a separate Honors Award application.
