Scholarship Summary: 
Incoming freshmen scholarships at Youngstown recognize the academic achievements of new high school graduates (US citizens and permanent residents).  These scholarships are automatically awarded to beginning first-year students who have been admitted to the University. Full-time enrollment is required for disbursement.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must;
i. Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0
ii. Obtain a minimum ACT score of 19 or higher or SAT (combined reading/math) score of 990 

Value of Scholarship: 
The Youngstown State University Freshmen Scholarships for Excellence are valued as follows;
i. First Opportunity: $1,000 per year (3.0+ GPA and 19 ACT/990 SAT) 
  • Test Optional: GPA 3.0-3.49
ii. Red and White: $2,000 per year (3.0 GPA and 22 ACT/1110 SAT)
  • Test Optional: GPA 3.5-3.89
iii. Dean’s: $3,000 per year (3.5 GPA and 25 ACT/1220 SAT)
  • Test Optional: GPA 3.9 and above 
iv. President’s: $4,000 per year (3.5 GPA and 27 ACT/1290 SAT)
  • Test Optional: Not available 
v. Trustee’s: $5,000 per year (Valedictorian)
  • Test Optional: Not Available 

Scholarship Application Guide: 
There is no separate scholarship application; simply submit (with transcripts) to be considered for scholarship awards.
