2024 University of Maine In-State Freshman Merit Scholarships (US Based)

Applications for this scholarship will end on the 1st of March, 2024 (priority deadline is December 1st, 2023).

Scholarship Summary: 
Through the Maine Commitment Scholarship Program, UMaine focus on high school GPA and the rigor of coursework completed to award competitive, renewable scholarships to Maine freshmen students at the time of admission.  

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The following factors are considered for eligibility;
Based on academic performance in high school, including GPA and rigor of coursework. 
Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to qualify for admissions-based scholarships.
Standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, are optional for admissions and may be considered if they are available at the time of the scholarship review.

Value of Scholarship: 
The University of Maine In-state Freshmen Merit Scholarships are as follows;
i. UMaine National Merit Award: 100% tuition and fees & standard room and board, up to 15 credits per semester (Eligibility Criteria: Semi-finalist with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation)
ii. Top Scholar Award: 100% tuition and fees up to 15 credits per semester, with an invitation to join the UMaine Honors College (High-achieving students from Maine selected based on the following considerations: GPA, academic rigor, program of interest, demonstrated leadership/community service)
iii. Freshman Awards: range from $2,000 - $9,000 for applicants who apply before Dec 1st and range from $2,000 - $5,000 for applicants who apply after Dec 1st

Scholarship Application Guide: 
There is no separate scholarship application; simply complete the admission application before the stated deadline.
