Scholarship Summary: 
The Southern Illinois University Academic Scholarship Office awards scholarships to outstanding domestic students who demonstrate the potential for superior academic performance. New freshmen applicants must be admitted to be consider for our new freshmen merit-based scholarships.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, 
i. A student must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, undocumented resident, or deferred-action child to be considered/awarded an academic scholarship.
ii. Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.75 (unweighted)

Value of Scholarship: 
The SIU Merit Scholarships are valued as follows;
i. Saluki Maroon Scholarship: $1,500/year {2.75 - 2.99 Unweighted GPA}
ii. Saluki Silver Scholarship: $2,500/year {3.0 - 3.49 Unweighted GPA}
iii. Saluki Gold Scholarship: $3,500/year {3.5 - 3.79 Unweighted GPA}
iii. University Excellence Scholarship: $5,500/year {3.8+ unweighted GPA or 3.5+ unweighted GPA with 28 ACT/1310 SAT}

Please note: University Excellence recipients are eligible to apply for a chance to interview for the Chancellor's Scholarship or an upgrade to their University Excellence Scholarship if admitted by October 31.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
New, incoming freshmen will automatically be considered for these awards once they have been admitted to SIU. Qualifying admitted students will be notified of their scholarship offer by email.
