Scholarship Summary: 
Leeds Masters Scholarships aim to encourage UK students from under-represented groups to study a postgraduate qualification and they are funded by the generous donations of our alumni through the University of Leeds Footsteps Fund. Leeds Masters Scholarship recipients also have access to the University's Plus Programme throughout their studies, providing dozens of free and bespoke activities during the year, pastoral support, extra funding opportunities and more.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
You must meet all of the main criteria:
i. Start a full-time, part-time or distance learning Masters programme at the University of Leeds in the 2024/25 academic year. This must lead directly to an MA, MBA, MEd, MMus, MPH, MRes, MSc, LLM or Masters by Research qualification. Please note, students undertaking an integrated Undergraduate and Masters degree are not eligible to apply for the Leeds Masters Scholarship.
ii. Be paying postgraduate tuition fees at the UK rate.
iii. Not already hold a Masters degree.
iv. Not have more than 50% of your postgraduate tuition fees covered for you, for example by an employer or public funding body (eg NHS/NHS Business Services Authority).

You must meet the financial criteria for one of the following:
1. You graduated from full-time undergraduate education from 2021 onwards, and are able to evidence that:
  • For Student Finance England funded students, you were in receipt of a Maintenance Loan greater or equal to the value(s) indicated for at least one year of study.
  • For students funded by either Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, you were in receipt of a Special Support Grant/Welsh Assembly Learning Grant/SAAS Bursary, or in receipt of a Welsh Government Learning Grant of £4,000 or more, for at least one year of study.
2. All other applicants: you must be able to provide evidence of individual, gross taxable income during the 2021/22 tax year of no more than: 
    a. £42,327 if you lived in the Greater London region 
    b. £29,794 if you lived anywhere else in the rest of the UK

Value of Scholarship: 
The Leeds Masters Scholarships is valued as £7,000. For successful applicants, the Leeds Masters Scholarship can be awarded as a fee waiver or as monthly payments paid directly to your bank account.

If you choose to receive the payments directly, the Leeds Masters Scholarship is paid in eight cash instalments of £875 when you have been verified as registered on your course. The money is paid directly to you from the end of October to the end of May.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. You need to complete an admission application form and be given an offer to study a postgraduate degree at the University of Leeds.
ii. Complete a Leeds Masters Scholarship form before the stated deadline; give as much detail as you can in your answers to make sure your application is assessed as fairly as possible.
iii. Scholarships are not awarded on a first-come first-served basis – all applications will be assessed after the closing date.
