Scholarship Summary: 
High school seniors (US citizens and residents only) of exceptional academic ability are eligible to apply for admission to the James Graham Brown Honors Program. Students accepted into the Honors Program will participate in a special program of Honors Seminars, Community Experience, and have the opportunity for advanced research (a Fellowship) in their majors under the direction of Honors professors.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have the following;
i. Minimum GPA of 4.0 or 3.6 GPA with 29 ACT/ 1330 SAT/ 90 CLT.

Value of Scholarship: 
The James Graham Brown scholarship is a full tuition guarantee offered to the top 2 candidates when combined with other scholarships and aid. Other applicants offered admission to the program may receive James Graham Brown funding, amounts vary.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. Complete the application for fall admission and be accepted; you must submit all of your application materials by the deadline in order to be considered.
ii. Complete the James Graham Brown application as by the deadline.
Materials required include:
  • JGBS online application form (fill out the form and check your email for a reply);
  • three letters of recommendation (attesting to academic merit and character);
  • essay on the assigned topic;
  • two-minute audio or video self-interview; and
  • chart listing significant community service.
iii. 
Once you submit the JGBS application form online, you will receive an email prompting you to upload your materials through an application portal.
  • Your three letters of recommendation are the only materials that must be sent separately from the portal. They must be emailed directly from your recommenders to JGBS@thomasmore.edu. If you list your recommenders on the application form, they will receive a message prompting them to email your letter.
iv. Selected finalists who show the highest scholastic ability based on the above, as well as outstanding character and personal qualities that enhance the Honors Program, will be invited to an in-person interview on Friday 23 January 2026; finalists should expect their interview invitation before 16 January
