Scholarship Summary: 

The Saïd Foundation Scholarships Programme aims to promote education and development in the Middle East by providing educational and training opportunities to outstanding individuals who demonstrate the potential to become leaders and innovators of change. The Saïd Foundation primarily offers scholarships for one-year postgraduate courses in the UK.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
Applicants must;
i. Hold Syrian, Jordanian, Lebanese or Palestinian nationality and must permanently reside in one of these countries. The Foundation will consider Syrians residing elsewhere due to current circumstances in that country.
ii. Hold an undergraduate degree that is equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree or higher. Candidates who are in their final year of their undergraduate degree will also be considered.
iii. Have work and/or voluntary experience that is relevant to their field of study and a clear career path on completion of their studies and return to their home country or region.
iv. Demonstrate leadership potential in their chosen field or sector.
v. Have applied for an eligible course at a Foundation partner university (or have legitimate exceptional reasons for applying for a non-partner university).
vi. Meet the Foundation’s English language requirements (IELTS of 6.0 overall with at least 6.0 in each band). Some universities have higher requirements so candidates are expected to meet these requirements too.

Value of Scholarship:

The Foundation provides fully funded scholarships which include tuition fees, full maintenance/living costs for the duration of your course, an arrival allowance, visa and healthcare surcharge fees and one economy return flight.

Scholarship Application Guide: 

1. Go to the applications page and follow the instructions;
You will be required to submit the following documents with your online application:
i. A copy of your high school marks/certificate.
ii. A copy of your university transcripts and graduation certificate. If you are in the final year of your studies, please upload all transcripts you have received to date.
iii. A copy of your current passport or national ID card.
iv. A copy of your English language results or confirmation of your language test date.
v. Offer letter(s) from your chosen UK universities for a postgraduate course starting in September 2024. If you have not received an offer you must provide evidence that you have applied for a place i.e. the university application ID.
v. Three reference letters which must be uploaded with your application.
vi. An up-to-date copy of your CV. This should be no longer than two sides and should not include a photo.

Documents cannot be uploaded after you have submitted your application.

2. Selection criteria
Saïd Foundation Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and applications are carefully considered by officers and Trustees of the Foundation and external assessors. Decisions are based on the candidate’s academic excellence, the usefulness of the subject to their home country, their leadership potential, their future career goals and their practical ability to make use of the knowledge to be gained in the UK on their return to the Middle East.

3. Eligibility check and assessment will begin in early November 2023 until end of January 2024.

4. Interviews will take place in February-March 2024.

5. Scholars will be selected by beginning of June 2024
