Scholarship Summary: 
Merit-based scholarships are available for first-year students from Massachusetts and New England who meet requirements, not related to financial need and are awarded for superior academic achievement.

Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must;
First-year applicants who are Massachusetts residents and
Have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average at the time of acceptance to the university of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Value of Scholarship: 
The WSU Massachusetts merit scholarships are valued as follows;
For Massachusetts residents only
i. Presidential Merit Scholarship - $5,000 annually {Min. GPA: 3.75/4.0}
ii. Owl Scholarship - $4,000 annually {Min GPA: 3.50-3.74/4.0}
iii. Blue & White Scholarship - $3,000 annually (Min GPA: 2.8-3.49/4.0}

For New England residents
i. Leadership Scholarship - $2,000 annually {Min GPA: 2.5-2.79/4.0 for Massachusetts residents and 2.8 for New England residents}
ii. Dean Scholarship - $1,000 annually {Min GPA: 2.5-2.79/4.0}

Merit Scholarships are renewable as a full-time Day Division student each year for a maximum of eight semesters, by making satisfactory academic progress and remaining in good academic standing.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
There is no separate scholarship application; simply to be considered. 
  • Students are encouraged to apply early in order to be considered for a Merit Scholarship as scholarships are limited.
