Scholarship Summary:
As a regional campus of the University of Maine, UM Machias is committed to supporting Maine students. Through the Machias Scholarship Commitment Program, each student’s high school GPA and the rigor of coursework completed is used to award competitive, renewable scholarships at the time of admission. Standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, are optional for admissions and may be considered if they are available at the time of the scholarship review. No additional application is required to be considered for these scholarships.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration,
i. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to qualify for admissions-based scholarships.
ii. Standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, are optional for admissions and may be considered if they are available at the time of the scholarship review.
Value of Scholarship:
The UM Machias In-state Freshman Academic Scholarships range from $1,000 - $4,000 annually. Award amounts are disbursed in two equal installments, one at the beginning of the fall semester and one at the beginning of the spring semester, as credit toward the student’s tuition account.
First-Year awards are renewable for up to a total of 8 semesters , provided that the student meets specific renewal criteria.
Scholarship Application Guide:
A separate application is not required to qualify; simply complete your admissions application and you will automatically be reviewed for eligibility when the Admissions Committee makes a decision on your application.
