Scholarship Summary:
Philander Smith College offers freshman awards to outstanding incoming freshmen students (domestic and international). These awards are based upon both academic-merit and demonstrated financial need; both factors are essential in the awarding of institutional aid.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
To be eligible for consideration, the following minimum criteria must be met;
i. Thomas Mason Scholar: 3.2 GPA | 21 ACT or 1060 SAT
ii. George C. Taylor Scholar: 3.0 GPA | 18 ACT or 960 SAT
iii. An admission deposit is required to reserve the scholarship offer.
Value of Scholarship:
The freshman awards are valued as follows;
i. The Thomas Mason Scholarship covers the full tuition cost & fees per academic year for four years
ii. The George C. Taylor Scholar is valued as $6,000 per academic year for four years
Both scholarships are renewable annually, provided recipients maintain the requisite GPA.
Scholarship Application Guide:
These scholarships will be awarded based on the GPAs and test scores associated with the admissions application and do not require a separate application.
