Scholarship Summary:
MSU offers the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship to the top 15 domestic candidates (US citizens and residents only) based on intellectual performance and participation in the MSU Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition.
Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
The Alumni Distinguished Scholarship is awarded to a limited number of incoming freshmen based on grade point average, class rank, standardized test scores or similar criteria. Consideration for this award is automatic, and no additional applications are required.
Value of Scholarship:
The 15 recipients of the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship will receive;
a) Tuition and fees,
b) Room and board (double occupancy in an MSU residence hall and silver meal plan) and
c) $1,000 annual stipend
Other Scholarships awarded include;
i. Distinguished Freshman Scholarship: Tuition and fees for eight semesters (Awarded to 20 runners-up in the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition);
ii. Alumni Distinguished Scholarship Commended Finalist: $2,500 per year for eight semesters (Awarded to 30 finalists in the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition);
iii. Alumni Distinguished Scholarship Commended Semifinalist: $1,500 per year for eight semesters (Awarded to 65 semifinalists in the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition)
All above awards are renewable annually.

Invitations to compete in the Alumni Distinguished examination will be sent to the most outstanding students who apply for admission by November 1.
