Scholarship Summary: 
The Douglas Johnson Scholarship aims to support UK domiciled students in financial need to pursue an undergraduate degree in the department of History at UCL. The criterion for awarding the scholarship is financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application. 

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
Eligible candidates must:
be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status;
be in financial need
hold an offer of admission to UCL to study a full-time undergraduate degree in the department of History (including joint honours degree) for the 2022/23 intake.

Value of Scholarship: 
The Douglas Johnson Scholarship provides £25,000 per year for a three year undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress. The award will be applied to cover tuition fees in the first instance, with remainder payable as maintenance.

If a student on a four year undergraduate programme receives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £18,750 for each of their four years of study.

Only one award is available.

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. You need to have submitted an admission application to UCL in order to apply for the scholarship.
ii. Instructions for accessing the online scholarship application form:
    1. Login to Portico with your normal details.
    2. Click on the ‘View’ button for the ‘Active Application’ that you wish to apply for funding for.
    3. In the application screen, click on the ‘Funding’ in the menu at the top of the page.
    4. You are now on the funding page. To find out which funds you are eligible to apply for click 'Check and apply' under ‘Funds Available’.
    5. Click on the scholarship name of the scheme that you wish to apply for.
iii. The UGFAs will be awarded by recommendation by a panel composed of UCL staff. The successful candidates will be notified as soon as decisions are made by mid-September.
