Scholarship Summary: 
University of Leicester is awarding four Masters Excellence Scholarships to new UK applicants registering for a full- or part-time, campus-based Master’s degree within the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities in the following subject areas;
i. American Studies
ii. Archaeology and Ancient History
iii. Business Studies
iv. English
v. History
vi. History of Art and Film
vii. Human Geography
viii. Law
ix. Media and Communications
x. Modern Languages
xi. Museum Studies
xii. Politics and International Relations

Scholarship Applicant Criteria: 
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must possess the following criteria;
i. A relevant first-class or strong second-class degree or overseas equivalent 
ii. Standard English language requirements
iii. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the overall strength of the application - including consideration of previous academic attainment, relevant experience, references, and the personal statement
iv. Available to UK applicants only
v. Available for full- or part-time campus based study (subject to availability)
vi. You must be able to start in the 2024/25 academic year

Value of Scholarship: 
The Masters Excellence Scholarships provides each recipient with a full fee waiver and £9,000 stipend (four awards available).

Scholarship Application Guide: 
To apply;
i. Apply for a Masters course with one of the schools listed above within the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities by 12 May, 2024 and supply the relevant supporting documents for your application including - two references (including at least one academic reference), evidence of your academic qualifications, and evidence that you meet our English language entry requirements (if English is not your first language).

ii. Complete the additional Masters Excellence Studentships application form. Your application form will be submitted to pgadmissions@leicester.ac.uk. The Masters Excellence Studentships application form will ask you to include the following:
  • A brief personal statement that tells why you wish to study your chosen Masters course, how your previous academic and/or professional experience has given you the skills needed for postgraduate level study, and how taking this course will support your personal and/or professional development plans
  • Details of the research area and theme which you would like to pursue in a future PhD programme.
iii. Applications for the scheme will be assessed by a cross-College panel using the following criteria: eligibility; academic and/or professional background in the arts and humanities; previous academic attainment; relevant professional experience (if applicable) and the strength and relevance of your references, personal statement and proposed research.

iv. If successful, you will be expected to apply for a PhD at the University of Leicester after completing your Masters and to apply for a 3.5 year (full-time) or 7 year (part-time) PhD studentship from the Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council).
